MODERN TENDENCY FALL-WINTER 2008-2009. ENGLISH CLUB.

There is new splash of Anglomania on fashion podiums this season. Designers make a declaration of love to Britain and its tailor's traditions.

Certainly, the basic ideologist of the Anglomania was British Alexander McQueen who has decorated one of the dresses with queen Elizabeth's II portrayal — an inexhaustible source of inspiration for artists and designers from age of Andy Warhol's pop art. Elizabeth II is the heroine of one of token collections of this season — D&G collections, the second line of designers Dolce and Gabbana, who have joined the ranks of anglophiles. However, Alexander McQueen's queen was solemn and majestic, as if she was at a state reception in the Buckingham palace. But Italian duet's queen was absolutely terrestrial and daily. Long skirts-kilts, checkered jackets, jumpers with rhombuses, high leather boots and kerchiefs. Elizabeth II liked to dress in that style while hunting near the Scottish Balmoral Castle. The British country style is extremely popular this season, and Carolina Herrera is at the height of the fame with her "hunting" collection.

By the way, the British moods in this season are closely interwoven with fashion for men's and school style, which means that checkered double-breasted woollen coats, checkered jackets, vests, breeches, men's costume fabric, Scottish check or, for example, «Prince of Wales» check - all these things are extremely popular and fashionable this Fall and will be this Winter. All this strict and even a little severe clothes should be diluted with romantic and womanly things. Victorian blouses with high collars will ideally suite. Besides it is the British history as well. Welcome to English club!
